St. Louis Self Defense Training

Training Philosophy

Krav Maga is meant to rapidly train combat troops in hand-to-hand combat in the shortest amount of time and from a position of disadvantage. In about twenty four training hours, the average person can be reasonably proficient in the basic techniques of Krav Maga. Since most attacks occur when the victim is at a disadvantage, Krav Maga training will include performing techniques while tired, encountering multiple opponents and employing empty-handed defenses against weapons. We recognize that everyone is an individual, so we prefer private training and small groups in order to effectively address the needs of each student.

Our Recipe

The techniques and training methods used by Townsend Defense are mainly sourced from Krav Maga but also include philosophies and techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Boxing.

Krav Maga

Krav Maga is the primary hand-to-hand combat system used by the Israeli Defense Force, and Israeli intelligence agencies and police.
2

3

Whether you have weapons or you have to disarm your opponent, Townsend Defense can teach you how to integrate the use of weapons into your self-defense system. Everyone who carries a weapon should know how to use it properly and train for usage in high-stress situations.

  • "Training with Everett of Townsend Defense is an intense experience. Unlike typical martial arts training, involving rigid movements that have little real-world application outside of the dojo, he teaches you simple yet affective techniques that can be utilized in actual combat situations."

  • "Everett is an awesome trainer, always pushing me to my capacity and using encouraging words that enable me to succeed. As a result, my fitness life has grown to be more consistent. I am seeing my body physically transform into a picturesque physique. Not only am I losing body fat, I am becoming toned, and gaining muscle in my upper body. The biggest benefit to training with Everett is the versatility; I am learning self defense, boxing, and some MMA techniques. He is awesome and I would recommend him to anyone."
